A Joyful Cultural Community

Children benefit with exposure to their cultural community

Cultural communities provide children with a sense of identity and belonging, helping them understand their heritage and values. Children who are encouraged to participate in cultural activities often feel more confident and secure in who they are, contributing to higher self-esteem. They, and their families provide strong support networks for families, offering opportunities for mentorship, friendship, and community involvement.

Sababa Boulder creates an environment where children can thrive emotionally, socially, and intellectually.

Happy Families

Flexible programming and convenient transportation

We know what a stressor on families coordinating after school care can be. Sababa Boulder Valley understands, which is why you can count on our flexible programming to meet your needs. We can transport your child from school, on the days you need, and make sure that when you pick them up they will have finished their homework, had a nourishing snack, and had plenty of fun, so you can enjoy your evening time together.

Meet Erica, our afterschool enrichment coordinator

Erica grew up in New Jersey, where she was actively involved in many facets of Jewish life,

including NFTY, a semester at Heller High in Israel, Jewish overnight camp, and serving on the

youth board.

She went on to attend Elon University in North Carolina, where she studied Human Services

and Jewish Studies. After graduating, Erica moved to Virginia and worked as an ABA therapist

for a year, providing in-home therapy for children. She then spent a year and a half as the

Assistant Director of School-Age Services at the Pozez JCC, where she supported the growth

and development of the afterschool and camp programs.

In the fall of 2024, Erica and her husband moved to Colorado. Before joining Har Hashem, she

served as the Camp Director at the Broomfield Community Center.

Erica is thrilled to be part of the Har Hashem community and is excited to combine her passion

for both children and Judaism. Outside of work, she enjoys skiing, volunteering with puppies,

playing pickleball, and making friendship bracelets.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Why should I consider this program?

Our afterschool enrichment program aims to both make family life easier by providing accessible, flexible and high quality after school supervision and to give children a deeper and more robust cultural community, which improves resilience and success later in life.

What are the costs?

These numbers are estimates and subject to change

Roughly 50/day, which includes security, expert homework help, Jewish enrichment and programming, transportation from school and a healthy snack.

5 days a week - $1,000/month

4 days a week - $800/month

3 days a week - $600/month

2 days a week - $400/month

Plus some small fees.

School Day Out (SDO) days will run 100/day. This is separate from after school days.

What are the schools you are providing transportation from?

It will depend on where our enrollees come from. Closer schools are more likely to have transport provided, but we could do schools farther away if there is a significant cohort.

What if not everyone in my family is Jewish?

This program will allow for Jewish learning and community without excluding non-Jewish family members.  This program celebrates Jewish learning, culture, and community while taking no positions on religiosity or setting norms around what Jews “should” do.

What if my family doesn’t belong (or want to belong) to Har HaShem?

That’s fine! While Har HaShem is the host of the program, it is open to people affiliated anywhere, or not affiliated anywhere at all.

What are the ages?

We are targeting 1st through 5th grades. 6th can absolutely be included if we are picking up from a K-6th elementary, but we aren’t providing transportation from middle schools.

What kinds of activities will my kids do?

Since a standard, linear curriculum with goals determined by age/grade does not fit, we’ve instead developed a 6 year rotating curriculum rooted in Values exploration.  Inspired by Avi Orlow’s Periodic Table of Making Mensches, we’ve started with the 6 core “columns”: Wisdom, Courage, Social Decency, Balance, and Wonder, and developed 18 core units that repeat annually, each year developed through a different Values lens.

The activities are fun, camp style activities - small science and art projects, games, stories, and songs. You can see a sample activity - divided into age ranges - HERE.

What are the times?

We will pick your child up at dismissal (2:50, 12:45 from Horizons on Friday for a small added fee) and keep them until 6:00 pm/5pm on Friday, though you are free to pick up earlier as convenient.

Is it one class? Multiple classes?

Both. Some things, like snacks and community building are done together, but planned activities may be divided based on the needs and abilities of the children.
